Color Correspondences In Magic

When practicing magic, color is a good way to manifest what you'd like to receive. Color can be used to express yourself with your clothes, to admire, and also to use in spells. Other uses of color can be the color of an altar cloth, a candle you're using for a specific type of spell, or the color of a stone/ crystal.

Heres The List:

RED = passion, love, sex, romance, lust. Can also represent anger and impulsivity.

PINK = gentle love, friendship, compassion, children, romance.

ORANGE = strength, justice, business, celebration, fun, vitality.

YELLOW = happiness and pleasure, travel, confidence, and creativity.

GREEN = money and wealth, luck, plant magic, growth, harmony, the arts.

BLUE = self empowerment, opportunities, peace, loyalty, truth, and knowledge.

PURPLE = enhances psychic abilities, divination and spiritual contact.

BROWN = stability, material goods, food, home blessings, comfort.

BLACK = banishing and purification, can also be used for curses, hexes, and summoning entities with candles.

WHITE = purification and light. Can be used in reference to candles in replacement of any color.

SILVER = The Goddess (Lunar Goddess)

GOLD = The God (Horned God)

Making an Altar

My Hades Altar
What is an Altar?

An altar is a space dedicated to performing spells, experiments, making offerings to deities/ Gods/ Godesses if you believe in them, and honoring the elements. An altar is a powerful tool in witchcraft and one of the best ways to get started. If you want to hide your altar or be subtle, I would suggest a small elemental altar in your closet or drawer. There are many different types of altars for various deities and types of spells/ rituals/ ceremonies, and I'll name a few below. The altars I will be going into depth about are the elemental altar and the classic wiccan altar. You can also mix these altars together which is something that I've done with my own. I have most tools of the classic wiccan altar and something to show each of the elements in their respective places.

Examples of Types of Altars:

Elemental Altar
Classic Wiccan Altar
Norse Pagan Altar
Mother Goddess Altar
Dark Goddess Altar
Hades/ Underworld Altar

The elements of the pentagram and their symbols.

Elemental Altar: The items you'll need will include a table cloth of meaning to you to place everything on top of, one or more candles of any size or color, and each of the four elements represented by the four cardinal directions. In the North, place your representation of the Earth element (this can be a jar of soil, herbs, or stones). In the East, place your representation of the Air element (this can be feathers, anything representing wings, or incense). In the South, place your representation of the fire element (this can be burnt ashes of wood, herbs, incense, etc.). Finally, in the West, place a small dish or jar of water.

An example of a Wiccan altar.

Classic Wiccan Altar: The items you'll need will include a table cloth of any color that has personal meaning to you, couldron or chalice/ bowl, one candle for the Mother Goddess (silver, white or green pillar candle), one candle for the God or Horned God (Gold, red, or yellow pillar candle), and a spirit candle, incense, an Athame (A small spear-pointed knife/ blade/ dagger), a wand, a pentacle, and a small dish or jar of salt.

All About BOS/ Grimoires

Starting A Book Of Shadows/ Grimoire [Grim-war]

What is a Book Of Shadows/ a Grimoire?
A BOS or Grimoire is a personal journal that a person or persons who practices witchcraft uses to write down various things about their journey in witchcraft and the magical arts.
What Do I Put in it?
Firstly, there is no rule for what you put in your personal BOS/G. This is up to you, but usually you would write down spells you've made, rituals you've done, dreams you've had, how to make different items such as oils, incences, herb jars, etc. Some other ideas can be personal journal entries, poetry, art, flower presses, collages, and anything that makes you happy as well. If you work with The Key of Solomon, you should also right your personal experiences with experiments and contacts with spirits/ angels/ demons.
Is it Okay to Share my BOS/G?
Usually, most people keep these items to themselves, but if you know you aren't going to be judged for what you have in them and are open to sharing with a close friend or family member or person you trust, you can do so. After all, it is your BOS/G. You own it. If you work with Black Magic and The Key of Solomon, I would suggest keeping your rituals and information secret unless you are working alongside another who will not judge you.
Here are some examples of grimoires/ books of shadows/ texts that can help you learn more:

All about Familiars

Familiars are defined to me as a personal demon, based on an altar ego of oneself in another plane of existence, used to assist and work alongside it's magical partner: it's witch. Though, even though they are there to asist you, they also have their own life and existence, and shouldn't be treated as a pet and also shouldn't be neglected.

DISCLAIMER: Your pet can not be your familiar naturally, unless you want to possess them with the entity of your familiar- which I would find rude as your pets have their own personality and should be cared for as themselves. Though, if you'd truly like your pet to be possessed by your familiar, you may do so.

Taking Care Of Your Familiar:

Once a week, after summoning and creation of your familiar (either possessing an object or animal) you should feed them offerings. First, you must contact your familiar and meditate in order to feel a connection, and then ask what they would like to be given. Some may request a blood link, which is when one pricks their finger or draws blood to give to their familiar. This can be in a bowl, pouch attached by either a collar or wrapped around an object, or inside an object.

Losing Contact With Your Familiar:

Losing connection with your familiar can result from neglect and mistreatment of your familiar, or the demon you chose to create your familiar with. This means they can create their own purpose seperate from your own, and can disobey your requests. When this happens, you can banish your familiar and destroy them.

Making Your Own Spells

First things first, when making your own spells, you may feel a lot of pressure to make it perfect- and while yes, you should strive for a spell that works for you and has a procedure that can be repeated, it's important to personalize your spells so they can have more meaning and impact in your life.

1. Create an intention. What is the purpose of this spell and what do you hope the outcome is?

2. Determine what method of magic you'll be using to set your intention and start the manifistation process. This could be candle magic, crystal magic, divination, etc. Choose whichever one would work best with your purpose.

For example, burning something in a flame means that you want quick results, dunking or rinsing something in water means you want a huge result that may take some time, or burying something in the Earth could be used for something that needs time to flourish and will take effect for a long time.
3. Write down your intention and what you want to say when performing a set of actions you want to take.

4. Honor and call upon the elements as well as a God/Goddess of your choice, or lackthereof. Make sure to light your candles as you do so.

Steps 5-7 are optional as casting a circle isn't necessary for simple spells or manifestation of what you'd like.

5. Cast your circle with your wand in the space you'll be performing your spell.

6. Cast your spell and say goodbye and thank you to the elements.

7. Un-cast your circle with your wand. (create your circle with a clockwise motion and uncast your circle with a counter-clockwise motion.)

All About Hades

Personally, I've seemingly had a strong male energy surrounding me from last night and even today. I've been looking into Deity recently and some Gods or Godesses that would seemingly appeal to me. Though I am not Greek Orthodox of any sort, and haven't studied much of Greek mythology, I am interested in the God Hades and believe he could be calling to me.

General Associations and Symbols of Hades: Cerberous, drinking horn, scepter, key, helmet of invisibility, and a bident.

Animal Associations: Owls (screech and barn owls), dogs, serpents, and black rams.

Plant Associations: Asphodel, mint, white poplar, narcissus, and the cypress tree.

Color Associations: Black, gold, and silver.

Stones/Metals: Garnet, onyx, tourmaline, other black stones, iron, and gold.

Scent/ Perfume Associations: Pomegranate, cypress, and amber.

Now, I would like to talk about how to make an altar with offerings to Hades, and what you could offer him. Hades is usually not openly welcomed in the home as he is a known trickster and God of the Underworld, dealing with communication and divination to the deceased. Most altars are set outside temporarily with a candle and incense.

The Altar SetUp:

1. Dig a small grave or door shaped hole/pit within the ground.
2. Pour libations and offerings inside.
3. Say a prayer or incantation to Hades and state your reason for contacting him.
4. Once you feel his presence, make sure to avert your eyes, as eye contact is not appreciated.
5. Leave the pit open until you are finished, and make sure to bury your offerings inside.

Some prayers and incantations include the following I found from "Ways of Worship: Hades", an article by Lilli Behom will be followed by this paragraph. Keep in mind, I'm not looking to worship Hades and neither should you be pressured to, but if you are interested in him as I am, I want to share as much research as I could find with you, my readers. Also, feel free to change some of the words, or create your own incantations and prayers, these are just some examples if you're having trouble coming up with some.

"Invocation of Hades:Dark Lord of the Underworld, [I/we] stand trembling at your approach. King of the uncounted legions of the dead, ruler of the hidden wealth that bejewels the caverns beneath The Earth our Mother’s skin, darkened by the ashes of a thousand cremations. Invisible One, passing through the chaos of humanity unseen in your helm of obscurity, You see us from a more distant place, a world of ephemeral life. We come and go, but you, Lord, are eternal in your watching. Help us to see the darkness of endings as part of the cycle, and to mourn our losses in a way that does them honor. And should we journey to your dark realm, In life or after it. Do not keep us past our endurance, but give us gracious passage out into our new lives."

"Prayer to Hades:Great Hades, master of the dark afterworld, honored host of our beloved dead, husband of fair-haired Persephone, holder of the riches of the deep earth, eldest son of full-hearted Rhea and Cronus of the shining sickle, I praise you. Hades, kind one, unyielding one, gracious granter of respite to the suffering, of welcome to those who have passed from our world, I thank you for your gift of shelter and hospitality."
Additionally, as a ritual, before you speak these words, you shall fall to the ground and bang on it, but make sure to use an open palm, as it shows you are open and willing instead of angry such as a fist.
